Understanding
environmental regulations
Environmental regulations have become much more stringent in recent
years. To complete the required-and often complex-filings for
a project, it is important to have a thorough understanding of
the underlying regulations.
Ginger works with prime contractors to prepare for, complete,
and defend environmental filings to ensure that their projects
comply fully with the environmental regulations in force.

Water
and ecosystem management
Water is part of our shared global heritage. Because water is
a basic human need, it must be managed wisely, taking into account
the variety of uses and with the goal of conserving water resources.
Ginger Environnement et Infrastructures delivers technical and
scientific know-how to help customers develop and assess public
policy, or to implement measures to ensure balanced, sustainable
ecosystem and water resource management.

Groundwater
and hydrogeology
Identifying, conserving, and using groundwater resources is a
top priority for local governments. Ginger Environnement et Infrastructures
specialists conduct geological investigations and impact studies,
assess contamination risk, and help manufacturers and farms take
measures to limit the impact of their activities on groundwater
quality.
Drinking
and waste water treatment
Drinking and waste water treatment is a major issue for both local
governments and industrial facilities, and one that touches public
health, economic development, and the conservation of our natural
resources. Ginger has extensive experience with drinking and waste
water collection, storage, transport, and treatment methods and
can provide appropriate, comprehensive solutions in the following
areas: preliminary studies, diagnostics, master plans, design
and scaling, project supervision.
Runoff
and flood management
Treating runoff and managing flood risks have become major public
development concerns. Ginger's multidisciplinary teams have developed
comprehensive, end-to-end approaches to dealing with flooding-related
issues. Ginger teams have worked on projects throughout France,
including the country's major river basins (the Loire, the Rhône,
the Seine, the Gardons d'Alès, the Aude, and the Var).
This experience has enabled them to hone their technical expertise
in areas like statistics, hydrology, hydraulics, geomorphology
and hydroinformatics.
River
hydraulics
In France, the Flood Warning Service (Services d'annonce de crue)
has been renamed the Flood Forecast Service (Services de prévisions
de crues), evidence of the government's efforts to improve knowledge
of flooding to ensure better prevention. In terms of real-time
forecasting, Ginger hydraulics experts are developing operational
applications and making research applications appropriate for
operational use in order to meet the needs of forecasters and
issue warnings in a timely manner.
With regard to prevention, Ginger is now
poised to offer one-dimensional compartment modelling applications
based on the Group's experience with traditional modelling applications
that produce results that are invaluable, yet sometimes inappropriate
for complex configurations. These distributed modelling applications
(both hydrological and hydraulic) allow integration of the spatial
results required for complex situations like floodplains or alluvial
fans. They offer a better understanding of natural phenomena,
allowing more effective preventive measures to be taken to control
them.
River
dynamics and resource management
The EU Water Framework Directive sets a target date of 2027 for
waterways to achieve good ecological condition. Ginger can help
institutions to determine the appropriateness of water resources
needs and come up with a coordinated strategy for managing minimum
flows to conserve the natural environment while taking into account
resource use. Ginger can also help assess the quantity and type
of sediment flows to determine how to best manage sedimentation,
protect banks from erosion, and plan ahead for likely river bed
shifts.
Site
and soil remediation
Changing site and soil remediation regulations require that environmental
liabilities be taken into account in corporate asset management.
Ginger has pollution and soil chemistry experts, hydrogeologists,
ecotoxicologists, and public health and classified facilities
specialists on staff and is capable of delivering highly technical
services in this area.
Public
development
Ginger offers a complete range of services including socio-economic
surveys and impact assessments, town planning studies, and traffic
analyses to help development authorities to make appropriate development
decisions that facilitate management and that preserve local cultural
and environmental assets. The Group conducts studies for transport,
town planning, and natural parks. All of these areas require advanced
knowledge of French and EU regulations, site investigation and
surveying campaigns, results analysis techniques, reports and
diagnostics, and High Environmental Quality certified infrastructures.
Transport
infrastructures and the environment
With the French State gradually turning transport infrastructure
engineering over to local authorities, Ginger has leveraged its
experience and relationships with local governments to develop
a range of transport engineering services designed to meet their
needs. Ginger offers proven expertise in linear infrastructure
projects from roads and road networks to railroads and other civil
engineering works. Because Ginger has design teams and environmental
specialists on staff, we can offer a comprehensive, coherent approach
to your project that takes into account both our own living environment
and the natural environment.
Environmental
management for industry
Having an effective environmental management policy is a sign
of long-term health for any manufacturing company. Not only does
good environmental management generate savings, but it also contributes
to good corporate citizenship. Ginger Environnement et Infrastructures
offers customers a full range of services designed to help them
plan ahead for changes in environmental regulations and to turn
environmental management into a driver of sustainable development.
Ginger teams can assess and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory
requirements and seek out technological improvements to reduce
environmental impacts and enhance the performance of environmental
and safety management systems.
Coastal
and marine development services
Around the globe, fragile, finite coastal areas are prime targets
for development projects. Ginger Environnement et Infrastructures
has a specialised maritime environment and engineering division
capable of carrying out all of the studies required for coastal
and port environmental and development projects:
 |
Environmental impact studies, regulatory filings |
 |
Planning |
 |
Development and civil engineering studies for coastal fill
projects, dredging, extraction, protection, ports, marinas,
tourism complexes, beach development, swimming areas |
 |
Management of pollution and damage (waste and rain water,
macro-waste) |
 |
Physical and biological restoration of damaged coastal areas
and sea floors |
 |
Ginger teams work on coastal areas throughout France, the
French overseas departments and territories, and worldwide;
they have solid experience working on coastal and marine environments
in the inter-tropical zone |
